Big boy at the docks
I met up with these guys at a property on the docks they have in Rhode Island. It was a neat space - shells all over the ground looked white like snow, and three year old O and I had fun running around playing on this mucky drizzly day:

The Public Garden, a bit wet
Dedication is getting up at 4am to get on the road from Philly by 5am to make it to Boston by 11am for a photoshoot. Dedication is saying, let's go for it - even when the rain is pouring down (this was last Friday - pre-heat wave). And you know what? Dedication just happens to bring about pretty great photos.
I met these guys about a year ago when we did A's first photoshoot when she was just about a year old. And then they moved to Philly :( But then they planned a visit and we got to do photos again! Can't wait to meet #2 when they visit again next year.
Isn't she lovely?
Here I am, giving in to my addiction again (I've mentioned it before... I'm addicted to the "throwing the kidlet in the air" shots. I'm looking into counseling options.)
Dipping toes in made feet a leetle bit dirty, but no harm there.

A lesson from mom about wiping hands off can be a game, too.
One of the best moments was when A caught sight of these two mallards and started giving them a little chase. Pretty funny.
You can barely tell that A is actually riding one of the Robert McCloskey Make Way for Ducklings ducks here, because she's got such a good hold on his beak! I just loved her expression in this one.
All your photos will be ready in the next few days. It was great seeing you guys last Friday and I can't wait to show you all the fun shots. It was definitely worth the early drive!

A laughing family and some fun pagent shots
So last year with these guys we did a bunch of photos of the kids together (adorable), and then at the end, their oldest daughter had started saying she wanted to try beauty pagents, so they had me do some "pagent" headshots for her.
Well, who would have guessed? She LOVED the pagent thing. Her mom laughs about it, but when a kid has that much fun doing something... you can't say no, you know? She even won Best Photo in the pagent, so that was cool. So now... this year, when her mom called me, we figured we could try for family photos first and then also snag a bunch more pagent shots. Here's the gorgeous group having a laugh:

And little baby A isn't a baby anymore! I can't believe how big she's gotten... and how adorable she still is. Love it.
And then (how'd you guess?) here come the pagent shots. I have to tell you - 5 year old S is hilarious! She had her ups and downs during these photos (all the costume changes took us a while, and she was a trooper to put up with it all)... but I have to admit, she's a complete natural when it comes to this stuff. Incredible energy, spunk, and such a twinkle in her eye. Just a pleasure to photograph :) And so fun for me to be creative in a different way with these... really out of my normal style, but totally fun!
(Jeanne, don't worry, we got so many great ones it was hard to choose just a few for the blog... I'll have all of the pagent ones ready for you ASAP! Can't wait to show you.)
And the little ballerina patiently waits. I'm just a sucker for the light in this one. So soft and elegant.

And my most favorite pagent shot of all - isn't this fantastic? Thanks to Dad for holding the hose and thanks to Mom for letting us get all wet! I think it was totally worth it.

Not too sleepy to be adorable
When I arrived today for almost 4 month old G's photos, we weren't sure if she was going to want to catnap before we started taking photos, but she decided to rally like a champion!

She was just four months of perfect. OK, well maybe her mom and dad would request a bit more sleep before we can use the "perfect" description... but other than that, just amazing and gorgeous.
They got the photoshoot as a shower gift from Dad's brother - so thanks go out to Mark... I think we got some great ones!
OK, maybe just one more cute sparkely eyed shot... love her pinky finger in this one:
And last but perhaps my most favorite one of all - a delicious mama squeeze. I remember when my Annie was this size, and the smell of her little neck was just so amazing, nothing in the world like it. And it doesn't last, that sour-milk/soft neck yummyness...
This photo just evokes that for me. Gorgeous girls.

The nearer your destination the more you're splish splashing away
Last year I met K for his first birthday photos, and we had a grey, icky day then, too. It made peeking out the window pictures fun, though:
And here he is again from last year, when he was just turning one. Bang-bang-banging on the step stool :)
And then yesterday morning (before the day brightened up) we started out indoors (and got tons of adorable shots indoors - can't wait to show you guys)... here's one by the window with teddy.
And then I begged to do some outside puddle pictures (they might be my favorites with two year old boys!)... and I'm so in love with these. Doesn't the reflection in the puddle make a cool shape in this one? I love the trees reflecting, too...

And I'm afraid I have a terrible addiction. I'm addicted to taking pictures of dads throwing their little guys up in the air. I should seek counseling. But it just feels so good, and I just love the pictures so much. I know, I know, I need help.

Three years of cuteness
Back in 2006, little J was just over a year old, and I got to come in and take some pictures to commemorate his birthday. Since then, I've been lucky enough to be able to come back and visit for each successive year.
In his first photoshoot, getting a sniff from some of Mom's roses:

And one more from last year. I just love this quiet moment, and J's splayed out fingers...
And now I got to spend Tuesday morning with J - he's a fabulously active three year old now, so we got some really fun action shots.
Playing with Mom - I love the motion in this photo... as if they're both flying out of the two sides of the frame because they're having so much fun.
And my favorite - kids and water! I love taking pictures while kids play in water... it's such a universal favorite among little guys.
And then last but not least - quiet time. Always important to capture.
