Last Friday I spent an hour or so with these three 2 year olds, one 3 year old, two 4 year olds and a 5 year old. These cousins had come together from all around the country for the first time ever, and I got to be there to memorialize it.
We got some great individual shots of all the kids as they ran like crazy around the back yard:
But the moment of brilliance came when the parents brought out a sprinkler. What else do you do on an 80 degree August morning with seven kids who want to run around? Let them! You know what they say. Just add water.
Because even two year olds love a sprinkler:

This lovely grandma called me last week to see if I happened to have any times available over the weekend for photos. Her whole family was going to be in town, and she wanted to get all sorts of photos of them. I'd had a cancellation, which meant I got to come to her house on Saturday. Here's her newest grandson, 8 day old B - with his beautiful mom.

Well as I was pulling the photos from yesterday's big family session off my camera and putting them on my computer, I had a TiVo'd Oprah playing in the background. Lo and behold, she was celebrating National Siblings Day on her show, and here I was looking at pictures with soooo many siblings in them. I was so excited until I realized Oprah was a repeat. From April. Oh come on! Wouldn't that have been perfect?
Nevermind. :)
I spent the late morning yesterday with these guys - two brothers and a sister with their respective families. One of the brothers was visiting with his family from India, so they were excited to grab some cousin pictures while he was in town. If you've visited my blog or website before, you probably know that I sometimes think it's a little boring to have everyone looking at the camera at the same time. Luckily, the kids are usually on my side and help me out by distracting their parents (and aunts and uncles). Here's my favorite group shot:

I spent this morning with these four, and they were such a pleasure! Their aunt referred them, (mom of their cousins, these guys) because they're going to do a joint photobook for their grandmother. I'm so excited to design the book - what a cool idea!

The second shoot I had on Mother's Day had a bonus - three moms all in one session. I met B (the mom on the left in this photo) at one of my Pottery Barn Kids photoshoots back in the fall of 2005 when she (and I) were both about to pop with new babies. (Her "new baby" from back then is the little blondie on the right, now 2 1/2.) She invited her sister and mother for Mother's Day photos this year, and to commemorate the mom focus of the day... all the blog photos from this session are of moms - from both generations.
So we start with the three beautiful moms...
