Happy 1st Birthday, Boys!

Three cousins turn one
A couple of weeks ago, three cousins, all with birthdays a few weeks from each other, turned one. I've said it before, but I find that birthday parties are best photographed in color. So although I usually love b&w best... here are some color party shots. The families enjoyed some delicious food:
And they were lucky enough to kick off their 2nd year of life with some of the most gorgeous cupcakes I've ever seen! (And I just found out their mom is a pro - here's a link to her cupcake company.)
And then the three birthday cuties enjoyed their cupcakes:

Three adorable boys on their 1st birthday
I feel so lucky to have spent some time with these three fantastic boys a couple of weeks ago on their first birthday! Love the t-shirts from Becky :)
We went for a little walk in their "stroller"/train... and the best moment for the boys was when the UPS truck drove by:

A sweet elf about to fly away
Doesn't G look like he's just landed here on the ground and is playing in the water? We had a great time at this playground (the wings actually come from a bench just behind G as he played in the water).
I've been taking pictures of this handsome guy since he was six months old - this is our fifth photoshoot - he's now a big two year old boy! I don't have time right now to go grab photos to show you how he's changed over the years, but suffice it to say that he's been perfectly adorable every time. Do you believe the eyes in this one?

A Colorful 1st Birthday
If you've visited the blog before, or if you know my style of photography, you might be wondering why the photos on this post are color. As you might have guessed, I'm a huge black and white fan... it's kind of my thing. But when people hire me to come to their events - baptisms, birthday parties, etc., I like to show them the photos in color, too. Color is just such a big part of these kind of celebrations, and it's fun to think about photos in a different way when I shoot color.
So, as you might be able to guess, I spent Sunday morning at a fantastic 1st birthday party - everyone had tons of fun. I've been taking pictures of this family for years now, and I was honored to have been asked to join them at this rockin' celebration.

The kids got a kick out of all the entertainment... not to mention the blocks table, the playdoh table, the candy necklace table... I tell you, it was really fun!
And everywhere you turned, there were fun people ready to play:

And last but not least, the whole crew blowing out the candle.

5 photoshoots with one gorgeous boy
Am I lucky or what? This cutie's family found me in the summer of 2005, when I was roundly pregnant with my now 2 1/2 yr old girlie, and when this guy was only three months old. And now, five photoshoots later, H is three YEARS old, and words can't express how adorable he's continued to be. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Here he is at his first photoshoot, at 3 months old:
And then here he is at seven months old - one of my all-time favorite shots:
And then here, with his maternal grandparents, at one year old:
And then last year, at his two year old photoshoot, with mom:
And now here's the big boy, from Saturday morning - now three years old:

So the funniest part of this year's photoshoot was little H playing camp counselor with his entire family. He had two sets of grandparents at the photoshoot, and one-by-one, he took each person by the hand and set up this red rover scene... boys on one side, girls on the other. It was a big problem for him when I stood on the boys side to get a shot of him with the women behind him! Too funny.
And then, last shot of the day - he lined everyone up in a row (he even wanted me to join). It made everyone laugh so much! Thanks for tons of great photos over the years - can't wait to keep up the tradition as you get bigger and bigger!

The nearer your destination the more you're splish splashing away
Last year I met K for his first birthday photos, and we had a grey, icky day then, too. It made peeking out the window pictures fun, though:
And here he is again from last year, when he was just turning one. Bang-bang-banging on the step stool :)
And then yesterday morning (before the day brightened up) we started out indoors (and got tons of adorable shots indoors - can't wait to show you guys)... here's one by the window with teddy.
And then I begged to do some outside puddle pictures (they might be my favorites with two year old boys!)... and I'm so in love with these. Doesn't the reflection in the puddle make a cool shape in this one? I love the trees reflecting, too...

Love his wet cuffs and excited face. He doesn't believe he's being allowed to do something so fabulous!
And I'm afraid I have a terrible addiction. I'm addicted to taking pictures of dads throwing their little guys up in the air. I should seek counseling. But it just feels so good, and I just love the pictures so much. I know, I know, I need help.
