Not too sleepy to be adorable

When I arrived today for almost 4 month old G's photos, we weren't sure if she was going to want to catnap before we started taking photos, but she decided to rally like a champion!

Isn't she beautiful?

to her fantastic smirk...

She was just four months of perfect. OK, well maybe her mom and dad would request a bit more sleep before we can use the "perfect" description... but other than that, just amazing and gorgeous.

They got the photoshoot as a shower gift from Dad's brother - so thanks go out to Mark... I think we got some great ones!

OK, maybe just one more cute sparkely eyed shot... love her pinky finger in this one:

And last but perhaps my most favorite one of all - a delicious mama squeeze. I remember when my Annie was this size, and the smell of her little neck was just so amazing, nothing in the world like it. And it doesn't last, that sour-milk/soft neck yummyness...

This photo just evokes that for me. Gorgeous girls.

Thanks for a wonderful session today - all your photos will be ready within the week.

A Surprise for Dad

I arrived at this family's house at 5:45pm on Wednesday - yikes, you might say - why so late? Well Dad takes a class on Wednesday nights, and it was our one chance to get Father's Day photos of the kids all together without him knowing about it. So my mom did Annie's daycare pickup and I got to have fun shooting in late afternoon light - a rarity for me.

So I'll admit I was nervous... a 5:45pm start time? The witching hour? How was it going to go? But I was so pleasantly surprised! These guys were awesome, the sweetest big sister (14 yrs) and wonderful big brother (12 yrs) - and little brother (3 yrs) did so well with the late hour.

What a handsome guy. I love S's smile in this one - so genuine! Can you tell he's about to leap up into a tree here? Even in his nice shirt :)

And here's a giggly C, being amused by his brother and sister.

And gorgeous K - hanging out in one of the amazing trees near their house. We got to run around within the coolest huge trees during the shoot... the light was so beautiful - and it was fun to boot.

They just had such fun together.

So the expression you see on C's face here is a reaction to perhaps the most stubborn dandelion ever... after blowing, blowing and blowing on it, those little seedlings just wouldn't let go. Made for a great shot, though.

So his sister stepped in to help... eventually they did get the seedlings to come loose from the dandelion, but it took a lot of work!

And I couldn't finish up blogging this session without a quick memory from December of '05 - little C with his dad. And as I always mention when it's a surprise for dad photoshoot - shhhh - if you know these guys, don't mention it to Dad, OK?

Great to see you guys again. Your photos will all be ready by the end of the weekend.

Lightsabers and dandelions

Big (7 yr old) brother M and little (4 yr old) brother C were the most perfect whiriling dervishes ever. We zipped from activity to activity with boundless energy, having more fun with each as we went along. They showed me their dandelions:

Their lightsabers:

They flopped on the grass...

And showed off their rock-climbing skills:

They even graced me with a few classic smile-at-the-camera moments...

They climbed a tree:

And last (but never least) we played Legos.

I loved getting the chance to meet you guys, and I can't wait to show you the rest of the pictures. We got some great ones. They'll all be ready by the middle of next week.

Two times the Father's Day fun

I'm in a Father's Day mood because I've spent much of the past few days designing Father's Day photobooks - so I'm sorry if this is a bit early... but isn't this the best daddy moment? The girls thought their dad was just too hilarious.

I met these girls when they were teenie little 8 week old cuties last fall, and now they're gorgeous nine month old ladies. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I love 9-10 months old photoshoots, and this one had fun times two.

I should introduce you. First of all, this is B, and she's got eyelashes to beat the band.

And here's S, also sporting some killer eyelashes.

Their dynamic together is fantastic. Doesn't it look like they're sharing a great secret here?

3 years later - the grins continue

I met this adorable girlie in the summer of 2005 when she was just 14 months old. (Summer '05... this means her sweet mom met me at the door on Sunday morning and said "Wow, you look great!" I wasn't sure what she meant, and then I remembered... I was roundly pregnant when she last saw me... hehe, so yes, now I am super slim in comparison ;)

But S has such an infectious grin. Here are some shots from back in '05, first...

Don't you love the huge grin and the 14 mo old teeth? Not to mention the twinkling eyes...

And back when she was the only little one - some snuggling book time with her mom and dad...

And now, some shots from Sunday morning. Here's big girl S, with her little sister S... aren't they gorgeous? I think little S looks so much like her big sister did in the older photos, it's great.

See what I mean about the smile?

And here's little sister S, with a pretty fantastic grin of her own.

And I might have a new favorite family photo here... I just love this one. The way the two sisters are looking at each other. Granted, I do have a new favorite on an almost hourly basis... but this wins this hour, hands down! Love it.

This one says Boston to me so much - the brownstones in the background (not to mention the fantastic tongue on little S here!)

And one last mom and big girl S moment to bookend this post (since I started with one). Nice hug.

All the rest of your photos will be ready within the week. Great to see you guys again - I look forward to seeing you in the fall for holiday card stuff!

Fun with two bilingual cuties

I spent this morning's first photoshoot with an incredibly sweet Norwegian family who've been here in Boston for about a year now. It was interesting for me to notice how much I do (and don't) rely on language to interact with kids. I'd say something, and then hear their dad translating for me... and it made me think about other ways of communicating - very cool.

And now I might just have to gush about the fun we had playing outside! The weather was incredible, and the kids had a blast playing outside in the garden.

I started out inside with E, as he showed me his Legos. I love this expression, with the dimple...

And L loved chasing butterflies in their garden.

I love inchworm season! So many great moments of cuties playing with them. And I don't mind holding them, either, so I get to feel cool when I play with little boys. Now if we were talking about holding something with creepy crawley legs, that'd be a different story...

Just one more moment to prove how fun this family was... the kids were having fun climbing up to the top of their fantastic wooden playhouse, so to get the family shot, Mom and Dad both climbed the ladder and straddled the playhouse roof too. You can't tell here, but Mom's still on the ladder in this one. What good sports!

It was great to meet you guys this morning. Best of luck back in Norway. The rest of your photos will be done by the middle of this week!
